Google Behavior Targeting is Off Target

Behavior targeting is intended to target your behavior and show you relevant ads according to your behavior.  But, when ads are being shown that are not related to your search query then behavior targeting is not doing its job.  Michael Gray of Gray Wolf SEO Blog swiftly pointed out how Google is showing mistargeted results according to his behavior.

The problem I have with these results are that the behavior targeted ads are Google Adwords, so this means as an advertiser you are paying for these failed attempts.  If someone clicks on your ads and its mistargeted then you still pay for that click.  How wrong is that?

The intent is to target visitor behavior.  If you did a search for “tires” then your next search was “cars” then it is acceptable for an ad about “tires” to show up in the cars search query results, however if your first search was for “tires” then your next search was for “houses” then it is not acceptable for an ad about “tires” to show up.  This is what Micahel pointed out is happening in Google Adwords system.  And we “advertisers” are paying for the foul up.
