The WWW- Domain Name Trick

Sometimes you just come across some of the greatest tips and today I found one.  Earlier this month, Paul Bourque made a post giving snippets of knowledge.  One of his amazing tips included the WWW- domain name trick.  I know you are probably asking what is the WWW- domain name trick?  It’s my first time getting this tip too.

The point is to create domain names using www- such as www-lawyers.com, you see how I intentionally used www- to make the domain name look like a regular www. URL.  You would forward all www. request to www- therefore any request for http://www.www-lawyers.com will be redirected to http://www-laywers.com thus making the URL look almost normal.

This type of domain architecture doesn’t protect you against visitors who overlook the www-lawyers.com domain name and instead mistakenly type www.lawyers.com into the browser, but it does create good branding for click-throughs,  especially for affiliate sites who are not planning a future sale of the domain.

With most easy named .com domains already registered, it’s difficult and nearly impossible to ever own a simple and easy named .com, but sometimes fool’s gold can make money.
